The group's research is supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, and industry. All graduate students are fully supported as research assistants or research fellows. Most students are chemical engineers; chemists and materials scientists are also welcome. Support is available for new graduate students in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. Students and postdoctoral fellows are supported to present their work at national meetings and to participate in national and international collaborations. PhD students are teaching assistants for two quarters (20 weeks) during their tenure. Almost all the PhD students in the group finish in four years.
